SASSA Card Renewal
Nearly half of all recipients use Cash Pay points, retailers, SAPO Branches, and ATMs with the SASSA Gold Card to get their monthly payments. It’s important to renew your SASSA Card on time if it’s expired or nearing its expiration date so you can keep receiving your funds.
We are available to help guide you through the entire process of renewing your SASSA Card online. It’s important to note that if you have an expired SASSA Postbank Gold Card, you will still be able to receive your grant payments without any interruptions until March 2024, as confirmed by Dr. Bongani Diaco of Post Bank.
SASSA Card Renewal
Please be aware that the South African Post Bank, which issues the SASSA Gold Card, does not currently offer an online platform for SASSA card renewal. As a result, you will need to visit a Post Bank branch in person to begin the card renewal process. To help you with this process, we have outlined the steps below.
- Visit your nearest South African Post Bank Office branch.
- Bring along your current SASSA card even if it is expired, and a valid form of identification (e.g. ID book, or smart ID card).
- Inform the Post Bank officials that you want to renew your SASSA card.
- They will assist you with the necessary paperwork and guide you through the renewal process.
- You will be handed a form that needs to be filled with the requested details.
- Submit your SASSA Card Renewal form and receive your receipt that is used to collect your new card.
- After your new SASSA card is issued, you will be notified to collect it from the Post Bank branch or Post Office (SAPO).
- You can now make sure to activate your new card following the provided instructions and protect your new card and PIN to keep your account safe.
Your updated SASSA card now allows you to access your grant money through various methods such as ATM withdrawals, bank deposits, retail stores, or the local SAPO post office. If needed, you can change your payment method by updating your details with Change Banking Details SASSA.
Important Notice: Postbank has announced that the expired SASSA card will continue to be valid until December 31st. This extension has been implemented to avoid any potential delays or issues in the system, guaranteeing that beneficiaries can still receive their grants without any interruptions.
