Sassa Payment Methods

The South Africa Social Security Agency (SASSA) has made it easier for beneficiaries to access their essential grants. Whether you are eligible for social relief or the SRD R350 grant, SASSA offers a variety of convenient payment options for individuals.

You have the option to receive your SASSA grants directly onto your SASSA card, and then collect them from specific retailers like Checkers, Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, and Usave. More information about payment methods is available below.

1. Post Office Branches (SAPO/Post Bank)

You can collect your grant payment in cash from any Post Office branch near you. Just bring your identification and your Application ID along, and you’re good to go.

Post Office branches are widespread, making it accessible for most beneficiaries to receive their payments. The cash-in-hand method is helpful for those who prefer tangible funds.

2. Bank Mobile Money Transfer

Be sure to keep an eye out for electronic payments that are directly deposited into your digital payment wallet accounts, such as the Moya App. It’s important to regularly check your account for any updates or changes.  

This method provides a secure and touchless option for receiving your grant. By managing your funds digitally, it also minimizes the necessity of carrying cash.  

3. Boxer Stores

Visit your nearest Boxer Retail Store and ask about their SASSA payment services and collection procedures.  

Boxer Stores offer an alternative option for beneficiaries, providing added convenience for those residing in close proximity to these locations.  

4. Pick-N-Pay

Make sure to confirm if the Pick-N-Pay store near you provides SASSA payment services. If they do, you can collect your grant payments there.  

The wide presence of Pick-N-Pay makes it easily accessible to a large number of beneficiaries, streamlining the collection process.  

5. Cash Send

Consider using Cash Send as a convenient option for receiving your SASSA payouts. You have the choice to either collect your money at a specific location or utilize a money transfer service.  

Cash Send offers flexibility in the way and location you can receive your funds, simplifying the process of accessing your grant.  

6. SASSA Bank Account

It is advisable to set up a bank account in South Africa so that your SASSA grants can be directly deposited into your account. You can easily update your banking details with SASSA to ensure your grant payments are sent directly to your bank account.  

When you select the SASSA Bank Payment Method, you have the option to access your funds through a variety of banks including PostBank, Capitec Bank, Investec Bank, and Standard Bank of South Africa, as well as any other bank account you may have. This offers added convenience for managing your SASSA funds on a monthly basis.  

Important Notice: Remember, once your SASSA application is approved, you’ll receive your social relief or SRD R350 payments through one of these selected channels. You can stay updated on your status and keep your cell phone on to receive notification SMS confirming your payment month, and always safeguard your Application ID. Do not share it with anyone to protect your grant and personal information.
